Crusaders fall to Southeastern on Day Two

The crusaders just couldn't take advantage of multiple opportunities to score leaving nine runners on base against Right-hander Justin Mauldin. The true credit for the Fire's win goes to William Glessener however, Glessner was 2-4 with 2 RBI on the day. Glessner impressed even more with the glove than his bat, he initiated two bases loaded double plays--stepping on the bag at third and going across the diamond to first on both occaisions. The most memorable play of Game two will stand as his diving barehanded stab of an attempted sac bunt with runners on 1st and 2nd and no-one out in the 3rd inning.

Stars for the crusaders were Tyler Callicutt and John Reinholz. Rienholz had an RBI single and a diving play of his own in Centerfield. Tyler Callicutt has been the player of the tournament for North Greenville so far. He is 5 for 6 in the regional with 2 doubles, 2 RBI's and is responsible for two of NGU's runs scored in the tournament. Have a regional Calli!!! and stay hot!

Caleb Phillips led the crusaders from the mound. He retired 9 of the batters he faced across three innings of scoreless relief work.

North Greenville must now turn around and play Truett-McConnell in a 3PM elimination game. The winner will earn a spot in the championship round tomorrow and a rematch with Southeasten. The team winning this game would be forced to beat Southeastern twice tomorrow at Noon and 3 PM to win the Regional.

We are about to go back on the air for Day 2 Game 2...First pitch is set for 3:15

Mike Benjamin will be on the hill for the Crusaders.

I will update again after post-game wrap up...
